Frequently Asked Questions
Can we visit you in store?
You can indeed! We have two charming boutiques in the Burlington Arcade, in the heart of Mayfair, London. We are open 10 am - 5:30 pm Monday to Saturday and 11 am - 5 pm on Sundays.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No, you don’t. If you would like to do so, you can let us know when to expect you. However, generally we operate on a first come first served basis, so please understand that there may be a short wait if our staff members are busy.
Do you sell antique jewellery?
We sell all sorts of treasures – old and new! From antique to contemporary and everything in between. If there is something in particular that you’re looking for, please get in touch and one of our team can see if we have a hidden gem for you.
Do you do repairs?
Yes, we have our own workshop and work with some very talented, expert jewellers who can solve a myriad of jewel-related issues. It doesn’t matter if your piece wasn’t bought from us - we can still repair it for you. Let us take a look at it, and we can advise you from there.
Do you buy jewellery?
Yes, we do. If you have a piece that you are thinking of selling, please send images and details to info@michaelrose.com or you can call to make an appointment with our Director. He will assess the piece and let you know if it is something that we may be interested in.
Do you do valuations?
We can provide a valuation for insurance or probate. You can read more about valuations on our services pages.
Do you offer ring resizing?
Absolutely, we can even provide a same day service. Most rings can be resized, but if it is a bit more complicated, we can discuss possible options with you.
Does the stone come with a certificate?
We have a huge mixture of old and modern stones - of which some are certified and some are not. If a diamond is uncertified, our in-house diamond graders can provide an accurate assessment of the stone for you, both verbally and in writing. Older stones are often uncertified, especially within antique pieces as full certification requires removal from the setting, which risks damaging the piece. With our coloured stones, generally if they are natural and untreated, and/or their geological origin is known, they will be certified. If details of the stone, such as colour, clarity and origin, are given, then it is likely to be certified. However, if you have any particular requirements, you can let us know, and we can source the perfect stone for you!
What is the condition of your pieces
We hold a selection of both new and preowned jewellery and objets d'art. While some pieces may show signs of wear due to their age, you can rest assured that all jewellery will have been examined beforehand to ensure the gemstones are securely set and the pieces are of the highest standard possible. All photographs and videos are a true representation of the pieces. We also offer an aftercare service in which we professionally clean and inspect the condition of your jewellery for you. So if you are ever passing by one of our boutiques, please do pop in to see us!
How do I find out my finger size?
As a guide, we have a finger size chart on our website with the conversion of all main international sizes. However the safest way to measure your finger size is to visit one of our boutiques or, if this is not an option, a local Jeweller will be able to offer this service.
